Elderly Care – Aged and Elderly Depression

Posted by mary on January 25, 2010 under die | Be the First to Comment

Depression in the elderly is…unfortunately, a common occurrence due to loneliness, lack of family support or because of chronic illnesses. Very often depression in the aged is not reported and treated due to the social stigma attached with this condition or due to plain ignorance on part of the family of the elderly person. This not only doesn’t help them, but can worsentheir condition and make them susceptible to other ailments…including sometimes suicide.

Also, elderly depression can occur due to the death of a spouse…which increases lonliness. Also, side-effects from certain medicines or due to certain long-term illnesses like diabetes and arthritis can have a profound effect on depression. The depression must be treated as soon as possible. Without fast treatment, it can lead to suicidal tendencies on part of the patient or death from premature heart attack, stroke and other serious diseases. One group known to be at risk from depression in the elderly include widowed women. Others at high risk are those not being able to cope with stress in their lives. Low self-confidence due to diseases like cancer and loss of limb causing disfigurement can easily lead to depression. Many elderly may have a family history of depression and get depressed due to apprehension of dying. Some elderly may have an addiction to alcohol or drugs contributing to their depression.

So, what can be done to help depression in the aged? Counseling and a therapy of antidepressants can help. (note: always see a licensed therapist and physican). The therapist will prescribe antidepressants if they feel they are required. During initial prescriptions of these drugs the patient has to be watched carefully as the side-effects and results of a reaction can be serious. These medicines show their effect over a period of time since they are given in small doses. In fact, it wouldn’t hurt to have a medical alertalarm for the depressed person just in case they feel the need to contact emergency personnel.

Psychotherapy is very effective in dealing with depression in the elderly as the patient can share their feelings and insecurities with the therapist. This helps them to identify the main problem and initiates a curative process to overcome depression. Of course, a loving family can help tremendously. Depression is a sensitive issue which, can be treated with love and patience along with therapy and medication.

What Happens to Suicide Cases After Death?

Posted by mary on January 24, 2010 under die | Be the First to Comment

The innumerable recorded cases of past life experiences are proof of the concept of life after death. In all the recorded cases of rebirth, it was found that there was a variable time lag between the death of the person and his next birth on Earth. So, where does the person go after his death till his rebirth on Earth? Is it a single place or are there a variety of places? If so, what are the factors that decide where a particular person will go to after death? In this article, we present the answer to the question on what happens to suicide cases after death. The answer is obtained through spiritual research done by seekers of the Spiritual Science Research Foundation (SSRF) with highly developed sixth sense (ESP). The places a person may go after death

When a person dies the physical body ceases to exist. However, the rest of his existence or consciousness continues. The person minus the physical body is known as the subtle body and it comprises of the mental, causal (intellect) and supracausal bodies (subtle ego). The various planes of existence

There are 14 main planes of existence in the Universe. Seven of them are positive planes and seven are negative planes. The seven negative regions are commonly known as Hell. There are numerous sub-planes within these main planes of existence.

The human subtle body after death goes to one of the 13 planes of existence other than the Earth plane. What happens to suicide cases after death?

There are two types of death with regards to its timing.

• Destined final death: This is the time of death no one can escape.

• Possible death: This is where a person can possibly die. Each person may undergo a possible death wherein one comes close to death but is saved due to his or her merits. In cases where a person is going through insurmountable crisis in his life or has severe personality disorders, he may think, in depression, of committing suicide. Ghosts (demons, devils, spirits, etc.) also fuel the depression of a suicidal person and sometimes are instrumental in pushing a person over the edge into committing suicide. However, suicide remains a willful act that happens when a person is going through a possible death phase as per their destiny.

The gift of life on the Earth plane is precious and is given to us primarily for spiritual growth. By committing suicide, we squander away this opportunity and become eligible for punishment. The consequences are that a person committing suicide goes to the Narak part of the 7th region of Hell for a period of 60,000 Earth years. It is a place that is without any light; something like solitary confinement in a prison. The extent of punishment/pain to be endured in the various regions of Hell regions and their associated Narak goes on increasing with the subsequent region of Hell. Also, the period of punishment to be endured in each Narak is in excess compared to the corresponding region of Hell. If we consider the punishment in first region of Hell as 100%, then the punishment in the corresponding first Narak region is 50% more, i.e. 150%. As there is nobody in that Narak region to advise about spiritual practice, the subtle body in this region remains in the darkness of spiritual ignorance. Conclusion

• Committing suicide is a grave sin and punishment is extremely severe so it is advisable to realise the value of human birth and undertake spiritual practice.

• Once we go to the lower regions such as the Nether region or Hell, we stay there and experience severe unhappiness for centuries until we completely pay for our sins by suffering the intense punishments meted there and get a chance to be reborn on Earth.

• To do consistent spiritual practice on the Earth plane according to the 5 basic laws of spiritual practice is like swimming against the tide in the current era. However, it is also a guaranteed way of advancing to higher realms of existence after physical death.

The Tragedy Impacts of the First Glass of Wine

Posted by mary on under meaning | Be the First to Comment

Drinking alcohol can increase the risk of cancer, car accident, traffic unsafely, stress, liver cirrhosis and violence. Also, drinking alcohol is risky for pregnant women.

The first religious drinking law was passed in New York in 1697, and it ordered all public drinking areas be closed on Sunday.

By the late 1820’s, complete restraint from all alcoholic drinks was a key rule of nearly all of the evangelical churches. During this time, people disputed that alcohol was an implement of Satan, and the drink soon named as “demon rum” and “Lucifer Liquids”. The churches had a larger effect when they tried to affect behavior to reduce demand for alcohol rather than trying to limit supply of alcohol. Some people thought that no one should drink. Command was revolving into Prohibition and this got the churches into politics.

Throughout the history of mankind, there are many victims of drinking alcohol.

The First Glass of Wine in the Bible:

According to the Bible, the first victim of drinking alcohol was Noah and his grandson, Canaan, the son of Ham, the son of Noah.

The Bible declares that Noah was “Perfect”

Genesis 6:9

These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

Genesis 7:1

And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.

In seven different versions as Perfect while in the other versions it is translated as: Blameless, Good man, without blame and “lived right and obeyed God.”

The “Perfect, just and righteous” Noah as the Bible said plants a vineyard, gets drunk, and lies around naked in his tent. His son, Ham, happens to see his father in this condition. When Noah awoke and heard “what his young son had done unto him” (what did he do besides look at him?), he curses not Ham, who “saw the nakedness of his father,” but Ham’s son, Canaan. “A servant of servants shall he (Canaan) be unto his brethren.” This is a typical case of biblical injustice, and is one of many Bible passages that have been used to justify slavery.

Now have a look at Genesis 9:

1And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

2And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.

3Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

4But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

5And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.

6Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

7And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.

8And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,

9And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;

10And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.

11And I will establish my covenant with you, neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.

12And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

13I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

14And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:

15And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

16And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

17And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

18And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.

19These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.

20And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:

21And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

22And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

23And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.

24And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.

25And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

26And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

27God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

28And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.

29And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.

Traditionally, it is held that Ham was one of the sons of Noah who moved into Africa and parts of the Middle East, and was the forefather of the nations there. The Bible presents Egypt as “the land of Ham” (in Psalms 78:51; 105:23, 27; 106:22).

According to Genesis 9:20–25, Noah began to raise grapes after the flood, and became drunk one day. While drunk, he lay naked in his tent. Ham saw his father naked, and told his brothers Shem and Japheth about it. Shem and Japheth went into the tent with their faces away from him, and covered him. When Noah awoke, he realized what had had been done to him, and cursed Canaan, son of Ham, to be the “servant of servants” of Shem and Japheth.

Nevertheless, Genesis 9 denies the basic Human Rights because:

1- slavery is immoral and wicked.

2- cursing all of an individual’s descendents into perpetual slavery because of an inappropriate act by an ancestor is immoral.

3- laying a curse on the son of the person who committed the act is immoral and dishonest.

The extent of the outcome of this passage is horrible.

This passage:

1- Religiously justify the shameful phenomenon of Racism; and the creation of the “Hamitic” ethno-linguistic group during the European exploration of Africa.

2- Religiously justify the shameful phenomenon of color discrimination

3- Religiously justify the shameful phenomenon of slavery of the Africans and emphasizes Biblical justification for slavery.

4- Religiously justify the shameful phenomenon of Israel-Palestinian conflicts, because Canaan is the father of the Palestinians.

Christians traditionally believed that Canaan had settled in Africa. The dark skin of Africans became associated with this “curse of Ham.” Thus slavery of Africans became religiously justifiable.

But in ancient times, cursing a whole race into slavery was considered acceptable because it was in the Bible. The American slave owner felt that he was carrying out God’s plan by buying and using slaves.

Unfortunately, many millions of innocent people had been killed, slaved and abused because of the Biblical passage of Genesis 9.

The First Glass of Wine in the Quran:

What the Quran says about the First Glass of Wine?

The Quran absolutely denies this story of Genesis 9.

This topic has many important aspects that are important to mankind e.g. Human Rights, Racism, Color discrimination, Humanity, Politics etc., that is why, it deserves a separate article.

Back to the main topic of my series of articles (1- 55); this is my question to you smart readers: “Is the Quran quoted from the Bible “? In respect to the topic of the First Glass of Wine; I recommend reading my next article about Noah.

Issues Regarding the Aging Dog

Posted by mary on under die | Be the First to Comment

Which breeds tend to have the greatest incidence of pyorrhea (bone degeneration), leading to loss of teeth? The two breeds with the most frequent incidence of periodontal disease are the Dachshunds and Schnauzers. The host resistance factor seems to be lower in these breeds.
How septic is a dog’s mouth? Since bacteria do not break through the body’s protective barrier, namely the skin, we needn’t worry about having a dog lick us and our subsequently contracting a disease. However, from the point of aesthetics, dogs do sniff every conceivable pile or puddle of excrement deposited in the streets by other dogs, so many people may deem it ill-advised to allow a dog to lick them on the mouth. This choice is entirely personal. The people who sleep with their dogs usually allow all manner of familiarity, including kissing.
What are ear hematomas and what causes them? Usually a hematoma is precipitated by irritation of some sort within the ear or upon the ear flap. The dog tries to ease the annoyance by shaking his head, frequently hitting his ears against solid objects and rupturing the veins of the ears. This causes internal bleeding, which collects in a swelling beneath the skin until the blood clots. Hematomas can reabsorb, but the dog winds up with a cauliflower ear. The surgery performed for ear hematomas is cosmetic, not crucial to the dog’s health.
How does one dog react to the death of another dog in the family? This can be very personally traumatic for a dog. Just as some dogs will refuse to eat and subsequently will starve to death, after the death of their master, the emotional affinity can be exceedingly strong between one family pet and another.
Should a new puppy be introduced into a family with the older dog? This is advised against this for several reasons. The older dog may bully the younger pup, causing permanent damage to the pup’s personality. Also, the older dog may feel forced to compete, resenting strongly the presence of this newcomer. An older dog, in resentment, may try to hurt, or even kill, the new puppy, causing a tragedy that you can well live without. Sometimes the older dog gets a more acute awareness of his age and debilities, causing him undue stress and unhappiness.
On the plus side, some older dogs have been known to become rejuvenated by a new canine family member. A sedate older dog can sometimes act as a calming influence upon a young boisterous puppy. Chewing and barking problems are sometimes lessened when anxiety is diminished through companionship. But, here again, it is just as possible for a new dog to pick up bad habits from an older dog, as it is likely that he will pick up the good habits. We advise that you do both yourself and your dog a service by not introducing a new puppy into the family until such time as your present devoted companion has died.

WHEN WILL I DIE?

All living things — including bugs and fish and people — die. It’s difficult, even for grownups, to understand why this must happen. It may be the hardest thing of all to understand. The best we can do is accept death as a fact of life. It happens, and we can’t do anything to change that.

Most of the time people enjoy long, long lives. Lots of people live well into their 70s or 80s, and some live even longer. Slowly, though, over the course of many years, the human body wears out, just like the tires on an old bicycle or the batteries in your favorite toy. When important parts of the body — like the heart or lungs or brain — wear out and stop working, the person most likely will die. When this happens, we say this person died of “old age.”

Sometimes younger people die. Sometimes a person gets very sick, and despite all the hard work of doctors and medicines, nothing can keep this person’s body working. If a very sick person dies, you may hear the adults around you say that person is better off now and no longer suffering. Still, every day doctors discover more ways to prevent and treat serious illness, so the chances of a person recovering improve all the time.

Other times people die suddenly, like in an accident. This may be the hardest kind of death for families and friends to deal with because it happens so fast. There is no time for them to get used to the idea of losing someone they love. The important thing to remember about this kind of death is it’s often so sudden that the person who dies feels little or no pain. We can be relieved about that.

Searching Public Death Records Through the Web

Posted by mary on under die | Be the First to Comment

A public death record is the last and final legal document created for a certain individual. A public death record contains important information about a deceased person such as the person’s full name, address, date of birth, occupation, marriage and divorce information and names of surviving family members. Also included in the death record are other related information like obituaries, death notices, certificates and where the remains will be laid. A doctor usually affixes their signature at the death record to confirm information such as the date of death, the time of death, the place where the death took place, and the cause of death. The name of the person who reported the death is even included in the public death record.

Access to public death records is possible. Perhaps you are thinking of replacing a lost or damaged. Or perhaps, you want to find out some information about long, lost relatives. Maybe you want to confirm if a missing person is still alive or not.

Whatever your intentions may be, you may obtain copies of public death records in several ways. You may visit, write, or call your local government office. Local government offices keep and maintain these records on their files for archiving purposes. To help prevent public death records to be worn out because of frequent access by the public, government offices have even made electronic versions of these records available. By using your computer, you may visit government databases so you can start your public death record search without even leaving home. One disadvantage of using government databases, however, is that you have to visit several databases if you are not certain about the deceased person’s place of residence (or where the death took place).

By using PublicRecords.com, your search gets more relevant results. Our comprehensive database contains more than 2 billion public records that include not just death records but other vital records such as birth records, marriage records, and divorce records. Our team of researchers has done their homework well and has compiled these records from county, state, and national databases to make your search quicker, easier, and more convenient.

3 Tips to Help Protect your Family in the Event of Personal Tragedy

Posted by mary on under meaning | Be the First to Comment

Are you worried about what would happen to your family in the event of your death? You should be. Death is a topic that most people want to avoid at all costs, but it’s something that is eventually going to happen to all of us so we need to “get over it” and step up and take responsibility for ourselves and our family by making arrangements that will take care of our final expenses and last wishes. Here is a “to do” list of things to consider in the event of your untimely passing.

#1. Get a Will and keep it current – A Will not only makes certain of your final arrangements and wishes, but it also may prevent many problems among your surviving family members. If you have monetary valuables or family heirlooms you really need to designate who receives these items by doing it in writing. Leave no doubt as to who gets what. You don’t need to state a reason for your actions. This could avoid potentially years of civil action and tearing your family apart. Get a Will right away. It only costs around $50.00 and can save your family a lot of unwanted grief after you’re gone.

#2. Get life insurance coverage – This is extremely important, especially if you are the breadwinner (primary source of income) of the family. What would happen to your spouse and children in the event of your passing? Would they have enough money to survive for any length of time? How old are the kids? Will it be enough to last them through their school years, including college expenses and tuition? You need to get together with your spouse or significant other and make a list of every monthly expense that you currently have, will have in the future and separate what will be regular onging expenses from what will be long term or permanent, such as food, utilities, ect.

#3. Get life insurance coverage for each family member – This is a tough one. You never imagine any of your family passing away before you do, especially your kids, but it does happen sometimes and it’s best to be prepared for it just in case. The average cost of a funeral these days is between $6,-$10,000.00 and I don’t know about you, but most families don’t have that kind of money just “lying around” and if they do, they can usually find something else that they need to spend it on. Life insurance for the kids is relatively inexpensive. You don’t need much coverage, just enough to cover final arrangements and a little more “just in case” money. Life insurance for your spouse is a different story and will depend on many different factors such as the type of policy you buy, whether it’s Whole Life, Term, ect., their body weight, occupation, smoker or non-smoker, age and more.

This is just a short list of necessary things that you really should do in order to make sure that the ones you love most are taken care of in the event of your passing and that you’re not hit with unexpected financial burden in the event that something happens to one of them unexpectedly. Don’t put these things off until their too late. If it’s not something that you feel you can deal with then let your spouse take care of it.

Age New Spirituality – Inspirational Stories ( Part 111 )

Posted by mary on under die | Be the First to Comment

In all these cases where hymns were written about all these gods, the Being perceived was one and the same; it was the perceiver who made the difference. It was the hymnist, the sage, the poet, who sang in different languages and different words, the praise of one and the same Being. “That which exists is One; sages call It by various names.” Tremendous results have followed from that one verse. Some of you, perhaps, are surprised to think that India is the only country where there never has been a religious persecution, where never was any man disturbed for his religious faith. Theists or atheists, monists, dualists, monotheists are there and always live unmolested.
Materialists were allowed to preach from the steps of Brahminical temples, against the gods, and against God Himself; they went preaching all over the land that the idea of God was a mere superstition, and that gods, and Vedas, and religion were simply superstitions invented by the priests for their own benefit, and they were allowed to do this unmolested. And so, wherever he went, Buddha tried to pull down every old thing sacred to the Hindus to the dust, and Buddha died of ripe old age. So did the Jains, who laughed at the idea of God. “How can it be that there is a God?” they asked; “it must be a mere superstition.” So on,endless examples there are.
Before the Mohammedan wave came into India,it was never known what religious persecution was; the Hindus had only experienced it as made by foreigners on themselves. And even now it is a patent fact how much Hindus have helped to build Christian churches, and how much readiness there is to help them. There never has been bloodshed. Even heterodox religions that have come out of India have been likewise affected; for instance, Buddhism.
